Embodied Breath Based Psychotherapy

Making the choice to enter into therapy requires courage and curiosity.

My work is grounded in the breath and focusses on direct and embodied experience.

Processwork encourages a wholistic approach . We will work with body, mind and spirit, awakening a deeper understanding of your own inner processes and to set you free from narratives and trauma which no longer hold power.

Anthony Olsen
I am a Melbourne based Psychotherapist, Acupuncturist and Holotropic Breathwork practitioner. I work from a Gestalt informed, Process Oriented, Transpersonal lense which also draws it's roots from Traditional Chinese Medicine. I practice an awareness based approach that utilises the breath and the body to facilitate healing and transformation.

I have been working in the fields of healing and personal development since the late 1990's.

I started in 1994, exploring the impact of environmental factors on our health and included an extended period of teaching Western Geomancy at the Australian College of Environmental Studies. This work included Power of Place field trips and lectures that explored our connection to place and to country, with experiential techniques to help facilitate a deeper direct connection with the spaces and places we inhabit. A deep appreciation for nature has permeated my work over the last 20 years and is one of the key elements in a grounded psychotherapy.

Chinese Medicine

In 1999 I began training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and started practicing as an Acupuncturist in 2002. My work primarily focussed on fertility and psycho-emotional conditions which incorporated traditional Chinese philosophy as well Transpersonal psychology.

Holotropic Breathwork

In the late 1990's I had my first experience of Holotropic breathwork, with one of Australia's pioneering Holotropic Breathwork practitioners, the Reverend Alf Foote. Alf Foote was a part of the key month-long workshops at the Esalen community during the 1980's when Stan Grof started to form the set and setting for Holotropic Breathwork.

In 2006 I began the Grof Transpersonal Facilitator Training under Tav Sparks and in 2013 certified as a Holotropic Breathwork Facilitor. Since then I have been running regular Holotropic Breathwork workshops in Melbourne.

Gestalt & Process Oriented Psychotherapy

In 2017 I began a four year training in Gestalt Therapy at Gestalt Therapy Australia however halfway through this course I decided to switch across to a two-year professional training in Process Oriented Counselling and Facilitation which helped to deepen and consolidate the Gestalt therapy teachings. The two trainings have helped to deepen my appreciation of the "Dreaming. Body" and. has given me access to exquisite tools to help each of my client's follow the innate wisdom of the body.

Men's Groups

I am also keenly interested in working in groups and working with Men to help facilitate greater personal and relational intimacy. I am personally a member of a group that has been meeting monthly for almost 15 years and have also facilitated groups since 2013.
